JCCS Academic Language Assessment Week 17

--Do the benefits of importing Chinese goods outweigh the consequences? I think importing/ exporting goods from china is a good idea because it helps china and their exporting jobs. It helps chinese people have more jobs in exporting places. It helps China’s functioning system, for example they will not have too many goods in China for example everyone will have just enogh goods. Importing goods from China can be a good thing becuae we can import stuff that we cannot produce.

What is something you dislike about yourself?

-There are many things I dislike about myself. For example, I have a short term memory. I forget everything but then I feel stupid later. Another thing I dislike about myself is when I play basketball and I have the oppurtunity to dribble I do, but then I get scared and loose my dribble. I get scared and dribble like I never had before. Another thing I dislike about myself is that I feel like I too weak. I feel like when something happens I turn weak and everything turns into tears even when im mad. There are many things about myself that I idislike but it would be hard for me to name them all.

Write a blog post paragraph about the Jammer Christmas Dinner.

At the jammer dinner I sat with Damien, Brian, Joseph B, Alyssa, Tashanna, and Melissa. We sat next to our Donors which were so nice. We talked about our life at Spa and about school. After we ate and prepared fpr the hayride. We walked outside and sat ontop of hay for the hayride. The hayride took atleast 5-10 minutes. We went around a circle of lights with different figures and cartoons. It was fun. After we walked to a place where you could get desserts and hot chocolate. We sat outside near a fire. Afterwards we walked back to were we started and opened our presents. I was so thankful for my dnors and Jammer.

What do you think the world will be like when you are a grown up?

I think when I grow up the world will be full of advanced technology. I think like everyone says there will be flying cars and robots taking over the world. But another way I see the world when I grow up are zombies. I feel like during the process of my growing up will be by killing zombies and surviving. I feel like a zombie apocalypse will happen anytime in between the next 3-6 years. When I grow up I feel like the world will stay the same but can and most likely turn into a worse place. People will keep doing what they are doing but since people are producing newer and newer drugs which means later in life people will produce more dangerous drugs. People will make more advanced weapons. The world will turn in to a more bad place. Worse than it is now.

"Lamb to the Slaughter" Irony Paragraph.

Paragraph Outline- How does the irony in "Lamb to the Slaughter" by Roald Dahl make the story memorable? In "Lamb to the Slaughter," Roald Dahl uses irony to make the story realistic. For example, one of the detectives says, “Probably right under our very noses. What you think Jack?" as the men are eating the leg of lamb (pg. 324). This shows that this is dramatic irony because the reader knows that the characters are eating the murder weapon, but the characters were unaware. This also shows that this is memorable because the reader understands why Mary Maloney starts giggling after they were eating the murder weapon, because the reader understands and is in on the joke. In addition, Mary Maloney says, "Patrick!...How are you darling?" as she enters the house after returning from the grocery store even though she already knows her husband is dead (pg. 321). This shows that this is situational irony because it shows Mary, the wife, pretending like nothing happen even though she has just murdered Patrick and he was already dead. This also shows that that her actions have changed since the beginning of the story when she was caring toward her husband. Her behavior is surprising which makes the readers want to keep reading. In conclusion the author uses Irony in this story to make the readers expect something but the story turns out to be the exact opposite.

If there were no rules, what do you think would happen?

If there were no rules I think the world would no longer exist. I think people would go around shooting each other and stealing each others stuff. This world would be worse. Worse than it already is. i think if there were no rules then there would be no laws which means the president has no point of being president. If there were no rules there would be terrorist coming to America and bombing us whenever they wanted to. Rules are important but sometimes people don't think they are. The world would turn into a terrible place if there were no rules.

In Notes from a Bottle, James Stevenson's use of abmiguity engages the reader. For example in a part of the story ,"there has been constant speculation on the cause of the flood," as he explains that no one knows how it started. This shows that the cause of the flood is abiguous, to the people in the story and to the reader. This also shows this would make the reader want to figure out what caused the flood, more than the people in the story. In addition from another part of the story that is ambigious is when "The biggest party last night was in the masneills on 4..." people party all around the building nopt caring. This shows that people do not care at this point about what is happening. It causes the reader to wonder why they are partying instead of trying to save themselves. It also shows that the motivation of the people's behavior is unknown. It makes the reader think they are stupid. In conclusion the author and narrator show ambuguity by not telling the reader excatly what will happen.

JCCS Academic Language Assessment Week 15

-Are cell phones safe to use while driving? ----ASSESS ----CONCEPT RELATE Cell phones are not safe to use while driving. Over 37% of drivers have received or sent a text message and 18% say the do it regularly. I think people who receive messages were or are focused on what the message says than relying on what lye's ahead on the road. People who text or even use their phone at all while driving are more likely to get in an accident than someone using a Bluetooth or a loud speaker system. I think people who do not assess or think ahead will and should get consequences. Some people should know the concept of cellphones and how they are not allowed to be used while driving. There are people in the world who can relate to people who have been in car accidents just for using a cellphone while driving. Cellphones are not safe to use while driving because that is just another distraction when driving.
